Babymoon Europe Video 2015

12.16.2016

Better late than never, here is our Babymoon video from our road trip in Europe! #epicroadtrip :) I made this 6 months ago and was going to post it once all my Europe photos were edited BUT that still isn't the case so here it is.  I'm hoping to get everything done before the new year so I can focus on what I'm really working on at the time.

So I'm not a videographer... at all, Landon took most of these videos with his phone while I was distracted taking photos so here's a compilation of what we had from our trip.  Looking back I can't imagine time without Juniper, what did I do with all that sleep and free time?!!??!?! haha But seriously life is so much better with her in it and I'm glad Landon and I had this last time to travel together just the two of us.

Cadaqués, Spain!

7.30.2016

Cadaqués Spain was such a beautiful quiet city.  It was our first official stop on our road trip up to France and was only about 2.5hrs from Barcelona.  We used airBNBs on our trip and stayed with locals and loved it.  This was a city that I could see us buying a property and returning every year when we are retired, I loved its character and yummy pastries (they had the best pastries out of our entire trip there)!

Salvador Dali House Museum - Spain

7.28.2016

A quick update!
I'm catching up on all of my photos and here's from our "Babymoon" (right before our June bug arrived) in March 2015 in Spain & France.  It has literally eaten away at me every single day that I haven't edited these photos yet... it's like putting a piece of cake in front of a child and not letting them eat it for a year... I was working more than ever at the end of my pregnancy up until we arrived here in Rhode Island,  and I finally have a little break for myself. Yay!
To see where I ended up on my Spain posts click here... you have to take a look at the Sagrada Familia! (The top highlight of my trip!)

The Dali House Museum was our first stop on our road trip and I was extremely excited about this.  I'm not necessarily the biggest fan of Dali, compared to Picasso, Matisse, etc, but I was super excited to do a house tour and see a glimpse into his life.  I was quite shocked that his home wasn't as crazy or bizarre as I thought it was... refer to some of his paintings.  It was very refined and a lot of pieces and styles reminded me of homes I've photographed in CA... although I know the influence is vice versa.

I had mixed reviews about the tour.  I loved going through his home and hearing about his life BUT they literally gave you 5 minutes to look at each room so I felt extremely rushed.  I took TONS of photos so that I could look back at it and actually notice details but here's some photos of his home! And I didn't post like 75% of his home, figured if anyone actually wanted to go to save some surprise and I have way to many photos to edit :)

Barri Gotic - Barcelona, Spain

8.08.2015

Barri Gotic also known as the Gothic Quarter is the center of the old city in Barcelona.  It's made up of tiny, winding streets with very old buildings and cathedrals scattered throughout.  We saved our last day for some exploring through the Barri Gotic and of course for the Picasso Museum!
It was so fun to explore with Landon, we would be walking through a narrow alleyway and then all of a sudden it would open up to a massive cathedral or castle/building, it definitely has the "old European" feel that you imagine all of Europe to be like.

La Sagrada Familia - Barcelona

7.10.2015

I don't even know where to start with the Sagrada Familia.  I knew we had to go if we were in Barcelona, and I remember sitting in art history class learning about it for hours but I'll just say my excitement for it was nothing compared to the Picasso Museum.  I have to say it was one of the top experiences of our trip to Spain.  I was completely speechless when I walked in, Gaudi really out did himself on this one and I will forever be inspired by it.  I had only seen a few photos of the inside online here and there but being there in person really made such a big impact on me.  I can keep going on and on about it, but I'll just say it was up there with the Taj Mahal, both were kind of "overkill tourist sites" in my mind but when you see them in person you're speechless and in complete awe.

Park Guell - Barcelona

6.30.2015

The infamous Park Guell! Curved lines and mosaics are my thing... like my dream is to have a back fence covered in mosaics, so I was pretty excited to visit Park Guell.  I didn't pre-buy our tickets for here thinking there'd be no problem... well that was a mistake! After getting lost on the train for an hour and going in the complete opposite direction (I blame it on pregnancy brain) we arrived to Park Guell later than planned...and then were told we had to wait 3 hours to enter.  So for future notice, pre-book your tickets!  Keep reading below ->

A Step Back in Time - Barcelona

6.29.2015

While we traveled through Europe we stayed at airBnBs, if you don't know what that is... you stay at local's homes and rent a room for the night.  Our first airBnB was the nicest Italian man.  He offered to show us around our first night there in Barcelona and we went bar hopping with him!...of course we just drank lots of fruit juice :)

This bar in particular was such a cool experience. Everything there was untouched from the 1800s; it literally was a step back in time.  The curtains were soiled, the dust was inches thick and the bottles were all dating back to the 1800s.  We would of never walked into this bar if our friend didn't show us this place. He also later took us to 2 other really old bars, one of them was Picasso's favorite and they had photos of him there.

Casa Batllo in Barcelona, Spain

6.18.2015

Barcelona, Spain; Antoni Gaudi
On the first day in Barcelona, we went to La Boqueria Market first and then headed to the Casa Batllo.  I really did my research for all the sights in Barcelona and I kept reading mixed reviews on if it was really worth it to pay to go inside the Casa Batllo, but being the artist and art history nerd that I am, I needed to see it for myself... and I'm SO glad I did.  I loved every minute of it and love love Antoni Gaudi's work and am in awe of everything that he does.

La Boqueria in Barcelona, Spain

5.12.2015

For our "baby moon" we went to Spain & France for 2 weeks while I was 22-24 weeks pregnant.  This was our first time going to Europe together as a couple (besides London), and our first time spending our vacation time not in a third world country... a much different type of traveling as well as more expensive! Landon let me plan this trip entirely on my own, he was busy with school and exams so I decided on Barcelona!  I've always wanted to go to Spain since I was young to learn Spanish but more importantly for the art!... and maybe the food too... but mainly for the art! Picasso, Dali, Gaudi! So this trip turned into a mini art tour without me realizing and it was very inspiring to say the least.

So our first stop was Barcelona! We planned to stay there for 4 days and our first stop was right off of La Ramla, the infamous La Boqueria....
