One Proud Wife

5.18.2011

So maybe this post was meant for 2 months ago... but hey it's better late than never right?
This is the rest of Landon's ceramics from last semester, his first time ever taking ceramics
and throwing on the wheel! Yeah I know, it doesn't look like it was his first time... I have a
feeling he might of been a child prodigy if he would of started this when he was a baby because
it was just in him, waiting to come out!
I had no clue marrying this man that on top of being this ridiculously good-looking model-
face, all biology-knowing, professional chef, ingenious, compassionate man that he is an
amazing ceramist! When we get our own house we plan to buy a throwing wheel, firing kiln, and
then have a dedicated art room. I'm thinking 1 room, 2 walls covered in charcoals, the other 2
covered in pots. mmm sounds like heaven to me.

So here is a look at Landon's work, and surprisingly I still have more pots to photograph while he has 6 more pots getting fired this week!
Landon if you keep this up, I'm going to make you quit medical school and jump onto the art
train. seriously, I don't understand, forever stuck in the awe stage.

And lastly, here are him & her matching mugs.
One Sunday Landon made homemade hot chocolate with
homemade whipped cream on a chilly day and these mugs went to perfect use.
Thanks for letting me brag about my husband.
Sometimes i'm so overloaded with happiness that I just need to spill a little bit of it on here.

this post is nothing special, just little photo shoots i've had with cute things lately.
i always have folders & folders of photos i never post, not because i'm too lazy to post them,
but because i take photos of literally everything and just have too many.

well i'll start off with these cute forelle pears.
they go perfect with sharp cheese & buttery crackers [mine & lando's fav. snack]
they are mini and oh so cutie,
and performed oh so well in this photo shoot.
;)

on the topic of cute things...
here is landon before church-
we had stake conference this past week and it was an hour later...
which we loved, and took advantage of with my camera.
there were cute ones of landon smiling & modeling, but i liked these candids.

& this is landon's morning bed-head hair.
i love morning hair, probably more than gelled nice put together hair.
if i could i would of had landon wake up and not touch his hair for the wedding.
i'm more of a messy haired type of person,
hence
my rat's nest the past week
[that has a mind of its own & occasionally forms dreads without asking me] .
oops.

tonight i am proud to present what my husband has been working on lately...

CERAMICS!!!!
so i took the same class he is in now, Ceramics I, and picking up the wheel & throwing clay was
not easy for me at all, I'm more of a hand-building more detailed and organic shape kinda gal.
well the first time landon threw clay, he had no trouble- quickly caught on and i think he found
his little niche... as it is SO very obvious in the photos.
it's barely midterms and he already has a collection to fill up our shelves. i am in love with
every single piece he brings home and so proud of him.
i'm going to draw up some bowls and pots i want and have some custom work done...
he doesn't know that yet,
but i need some pretty fruit bowls and vases for spring flowers coming up. :)
yay i'm excited!

i had a little photo shoot with the pots today. check them out.

check out the beautiful red inside the vase, love it!
landon actually brought this home with a flower in it for me, so cute.

sheen & shine

so landon has been working lately on a big project for his ceramics class.
they are supposed to recreate something ancient [over 100 years old].
we found this awesome urn and fell in love with it quickly.
landon threw the pot and lid for it and brought it home to hand-build everything else.
and if hand-building is involved...
i obviously would be involved too :)
so we've been working on it together this weekend and it's been such a fun little activity for us.
we have a few more details and engravings to add in tonight and we are all set and done!
i can't wait to have this fired, glazed, and displayed in our home... not as a urn as an art piece :)

my little [buff] proud landon. :)
i'm so happy that he found a creative outlet for himself.
we say that when we are old and rich we will have a wheel & kiln for ourselves to play and create fun things on. i guess we will have to wait and see...
until then, landon will keep creating at school and i will keep taking photos of his creations
and display them in our home :)

PS. we just found out our wedding was featured on the Fabulously Wed blog.
go take a look!
