Pomelo

I remember eating this exact apple crisp recipe every single Sunday during the fall season when I was just a little girl.  My older sister without fail, would pull out the green apples and start slicing away after finishing dinner.  Smells of cinnamon and bubbling apples would fill the house, and that's when I knew fall had officially arrived. I love the traditions my family had and can't wait to start them with my own family.  This apple crisp has that perfect crispy topping that pairs so nicely with the baked apples, and an extra plus is that it only takes a handful of ingredients! 

Apple Crisp
Serves 6-8

4-5 Granny Smith Apples (peeled & sliced into 1/2" thick)
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. old-fashioned oats
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. freshly grated nutmeg
1/3 c. melted butter

1. Wash and peel Granny Smith apples. Slice them into 1/2" thick slices. This allows
them to cook faster and thoroughly.
2. Grease a 9"x9" pan and place apple slices stacking them to fill 3/4ths of the pan.
3. In a separate bowl add, brown sugar, flour, oats, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
4. Gradually add the melted butter mixing it until it until all the dry ingredients are incorporated.
5. Put apple crisp into a preheated 375º for about 30 minutes.
6. Serve with vanilla bean ice cream and top with apple slices for a fancy display!

Apple Chips

1. Thinly slice apples either by your handy knife skills or a mandolin.
2. Preheat oven to 200º and place apples on a greased cookie sheet not touching.
3. Leave in for 1.5-2 hrs flipping them in between until crisp.
