Last post of Hampi

Since we spent so much time in Hampi, and I'm anxious to get to the next city, I kind of just threw everything else on here.  We had so many great experiences and made amazing friends in Hampi, that I honestly cannot write everything down.  On our last day we went to the main temple in the middle of the city.  After witnessing their devoted worshipping we were brought to a 'cafeteria' for a free meal of thali.  We didn't see any other foreigners and didn't know if we were allowed to go in but once the doors opened everyone was grabbing our arms and they were honored to have us eating with them.  As we all sat in rows on the floor, they gave us banana leaves as our plate and men followed with buckets of hot steaming food ladling it upon our leaf.  They don't use utensils so you go straight at the rice and curry with your hands!  Everyone loved watching us eat which probably made me act more awkward but by the end of it I think I felt like a real Indian!

Another thing that I loved about Hampi was how decorative they were!  The last photos & animated gif shows what they do every morning.  They wet down the dirt and sometimes smear cow poop (as shown in the first left photo for more color) and would draw intricate, symmetrical designs with powder chalk.  Landon and I both think that I was supposed to be born as an Indian.  They draw, paint and decorate everything they own and well that's how I am too.  They are all artists in their natural way of life and I love it!
