Cadaqués, Spain!

7.30.2016

Cadaqués Spain was such a beautiful quiet city.  It was our first official stop on our road trip up to France and was only about 2.5hrs from Barcelona.  We used airBNBs on our trip and stayed with locals and loved it.  This was a city that I could see us buying a property and returning every year when we are retired, I loved its character and yummy pastries (they had the best pastries out of our entire trip there)!

Continue for more photos & stories!

Landon and I always find ourselves in interesting situations while traveling abroad and at the time we are stressed/scared out of our minds but looking back it always makes for a fun conversation.

Our first night there we were driving our tiny rental car and exploring the city and we turned down a road that just kept getting narrower and narrower and when we got to the bottom of the hill we found ourselves completely stuck just inches away from local's homes in the middle of the city.  Locals were coming out of their homes talking to us in Spanish trying to tell us that we were stuck... which was obvious... I had to get out of the car and direct Landon on backing out.  We had miles to go with no where to turn our car around and we were in a stick shift at the bottom of the hill, it was late at night with no lights anywhere and we had Spanish ladies on repeat telling us that "we were stuck" lol.  Landon could only move inches every few minutes because we were practically lodged in between the town's old buildings.  It was a great situation for Landon and I to work on our communication skills lol But we eventually got out and learned to not do that again.

On our last night there we were starving and since I was pregnant nothing sounded good.  We walked the entire city twice and by then I was done and even more starving so we found a yummy pizza place, we each ordered a pizza, drizzled it in spicy spicy hot oil and hiked back up to the top of the hill to have one last view of the city.  I remember it being freezing but that seemed to make the pizza taste even better.  On our way back to our place we got another pastry to share (from the BEST pastry shop we've ever had) and enjoyed our treat on the balcony at our airBNB.

The view from our balcony.
